Kwara South Senatorial district has the highest number of local government areas with seven councils and many rural communities. It’s therefore imperative for the district representative to pay attention to needs of different communities and take steps towards delivering democratic dividends.

 

Interestingly, the Deputy Senate Leader, Arc Oyelola Ashiru who is currently representing Kwara South has been facilitating projects and programmes to improve wellbeing of constituents. The Senator understands needs of different communities having tour across Kwara South during electioneering campaign and stakeholders’ engagement sessions.

 

As a Senator who prioritize people’s wellbeing, he organised geriatrics training to equip constituents with knowledge of how to take care of aged across in rural areas. The Senator also organised free medical outreach in Oke-Onigbin and Ilofa where health practitioners carried routine check up and distribute free drugs.

 

In addition, Senator Ashiru as part of efforts to complement Governor Abdulrazaq’s administration distributed drugs and other medical equipment to five Primary Health Centres in Kwara South. The healthcare centers that benefited from the distribution include Ilofa Cottage Hospital, Isanlu Isin Primary Health Centre (PHC), Oke Ibukun, Ganmo Basic Health Centre, Owode Market Health Centre in Offa, and Moremi Health Centre in Offa. Each center received an extensive array of medical supplies and equipment to enhance healthcare delivery in their respective communities.

 

On water supply, the Senator while building on gains of his first tenure installed solar-powered borehole in 18 beneficiary communities. The Senator said: “This project has significantly improved access to clean water and enhancing the well-being of our people. Building on this success, our next phase will prioritize identifying additional villages without access to water with the aim of expanding the project to more communities.”

 

The beneficiary communities are: Oba- Isin, Isanlu-Isin, Oke-Onigbin, Olla, Odore, Owode Alla, Araromi, Ora Aiyegbaju, Imode, Iloffa, Ijomu Oro, Irebode Oro, Agunji, Ora, Akingbasa, Igbo Essa, Dapson Area and Community Adeleke Rd

 

Earlier in the year, Senator Ashiru while keying to President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda for food security in order to ease the burden of farmers in procuring fertilizer and other farm inputs. He distributed fertilizers, urea, pesticides, and herbicide to the farmers across Kwara South. His support has yielded good result with bumper harvest experience by farmers during harvest period. Indeed, Senator Ashiru brightens the smile on faces of local farmers with the agricultural interventions.

 

The Offa born Lawmaker has promised to provide more support. In his words: “We are determined to support farmers in the constituency to enhance the production of farm produce and to boost economic activities of the district through agriculture.”

 

Furthermore, the Deputy Senate Leader is also addressing challenge impeding access to markets by facilitating construction of rural roads. These would enhance smooth movement of farm produces to markets by farmers operating from different rural communities across Kwara South Senatorial district.

 

Similarly, Kwara South Senator is also installing streetlights in major markets and communities to boost business activities at night and enhance security. In the same vein, transformers were distributed and installed in some rural communities to address power supply challenge.

 

Conclusively, Senator Oyelola Ashiru’s understanding of Kwara South terrain has helped in implementing impactful projects across the district and he will continue to do more for benefit of citizenry.
