The Lead Pastor of Harvesters International Christian Center (HICC), Pastor Bolaji Idowu, has firmly denied recent allegations of fraud and money laundering amounting to N1.5 billion.
Speaking during the “Next Level Prayers” session on Wednesday, Pastor Idowu addressed reports of his alleged arrest and investigation by the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) of the Nigerian police.
Acknowledging the widespread speculation on social media, he said, “Over the last 24 hours, there’s been a lot of news about me on social media. I just want to state some facts clearly.”
He categorically refuted claims of involvement in real estate transactions, stating, “I do not have any property in Nigeria apart from the one bequeathed to me by my late parents. I am not in the business of buying or selling properties.”
Pastor Idowu also denied allegations of receiving billions of naira in his accounts, adding, “Someone said I received billions into my account. My account is public; anyone can check if I have ever received such amounts. I did not.”
While refraining from discussing details of the investigation, he expressed gratitude to his supporters. “I want to thank all of you who showed a lot of love. We are victorious,” he said confidently. He added humorously, “As you are reading it, I’m also reading it, like wow.”
He invited anyone with evidence against him to come forward, maintaining his stance of innocence.
Reports had earlier suggested that Pastor Idowu was detained by the FCID in Abuja for questioning regarding alleged involvement in real estate fraud and money laundering. A senior police source confirmed his detention, stating, “Pastor Bolaji Idowu, popularly known as the ‘Next Level Prayer Conference’ pastor, is under investigation for alleged fraudulent real estate activities and money laundering.”
Another source corroborated, “He is at the FCID Abuja as we speak.”
Pastor Idowu, who founded HICC in December 2003, has overseen its growth into a global ministry with branches in Nigeria, the UK, and the US, attracting over 70,000 worshippers through online and in-person services. His popular “Next Level Prayers” platform has gained international recognition for promoting spiritual growth through prayer.
The allegations have sparked concern and speculation among HICC’s congregation. As the investigation unfolds, neither the police nor Pastor Idowu’s representatives have released formal statements.
