In response to the escalating security challenges across the country, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced a strict enforcement of laws against vehicles with tinted glasses.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, made this known during a press briefing at the command’s headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.
CP Disu emphasized that no individual is permitted to tint their vehicle’s windows, stating, “Tinted glasses contribute significantly to lawlessness in the country.”
He further explained, “We are taking action against all commercial and private vehicles with tinted glasses. It is crucial for us to see the occupants of vehicles.”
Highlighting security concerns, he noted, “Many rescued kidnapping victims revealed that tinted windows prevented bystanders from recognizing their distress. Similarly, criminals often exploit tinted glasses to conceal their identity and obscure their vehicle registration plates—or even remove them altogether.”
The Commissioner warned residents of the FCT that the police would rigorously enforce regulations on tinted glasses, reiterating, “Nobody has the right to tint their vehicle’s windows.”
