Security forces successfully averted a potential crisis in Oro Kingdom, located in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, on Sunday.

According to intelligence reports received by DAILY POST, tensions arose from plans by a faction within the community to disrupt activities at a Catholic Church in the town, where the traditional ruler, Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyetoye Olufayo II, was scheduled to worship.

To prevent a violent clash, the church was locked by an aggrieved section of the community. This preemptive measure ensured that the situation did not escalate into violence.

Ayoola Michael Shola, spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State, confirmed the incident in Ilorin.

He stated that swift intervention by security agencies, including a joint team of the Police, DSS, and NSCDC, effectively reduced tensions between the monarch and community members.

“The combined team is stationed at the church to protect lives and property, while the facility remains locked,” Shola added.
