A historic and impactful gesture unfolded during a meeting at the residence of High Chief Adeniyi Ibitoye, the Obanla of Ilesa.

High Chief Fadunsin Oluwagbemiga Igbaroola, the Arapate of Ilesa, surprised the newly affirmed Oba of Iloro-Ijesa, Oba Haastrup Adeola Ojo, with a significant financial donation, reinforcing his support for the monarch.

Speaking at the meeting, High Chief Fadunsin expressed his dissatisfaction with the actions of the Afobajes (kingmakers) of Iloro-Ijesa.

He condemned their decision to bypass government-backed processes and install a different candidate as the Aloro of Iloro-Ijesa, a move he described as unlawful and exploitative.

“The recognized and government-approved Oba, with all authentic certificates and staff of office, is Oba Haastrup Adeola Ojo,” High Chief Fadunsin said.

“The Afobajes’ attempt to install another candidate—solely due to financial incentives—undermines our royal tradition and justice. The era of selling royal stools in Ijesaland is over,” he continued.

The Arapate affirmed his unwavering support for Oba Haastrup Adeola Ojo, stating that the kingmakers must align with the government’s decision and respect the duly elected monarch to maintain peace and harmony in the land.

High Chief Fadunsin urged the Afobajes to reconcile their differences and support the recognized monarch.

He emphasized the importance of unity in preserving the traditions of Ijesaland and called on all stakeholders to pray for Oba Haastrup’s success.

“We must work together to ensure stability and progress for our community,” he appealed. “Justice and fairness must prevail over any form of manipulation.”

In a show of solidarity, High Chief Fadunsin donated ₦200,000 to Oba Haastrup Adeola Ojo to support him as he embarks on his reign.

This gesture symbolized not only his personal commitment but also the collective affirmation of the legitimacy of the Oba’s appointment.

The meeting also saw High Chief Adeniyi Ibitoye, the Obanla of Ilesa, reaffirm Oba Haastrup Adeola Ojo’s position as the Aloro of Iloro-Ijesa.

He highlighted that the monarch’s documents from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs validated his ascension.

“We do not go against tradition. The affirmation of Oba Haastrup Adeola Ojo as the Aloro of Iloro-Ijesa is based on due process and authenticity,” he said.

In his closing remarks, High Chief Fadunsin expressed heartfelt congratulations to Oba Haastrup Adeola Ojo and assured him of continued support. He prayed for the monarch’s successful reign, urging the community to rally around their king for a prosperous future.
