Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has reaffirmed the potential for Nigerian governments to utilize state resources effectively for the benefit of their citizens, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to transparency and development.
Amid criticisms of state governors over the use of increased federal allocations following the removal of the fuel subsidy, Fintiri defended his leadership through his Chief of Staff, Dr. Edgar Amos, during an interactive forum in Yola.
Speaking at the event, themed “Sustaining Adamawa State’s Strategic Role in Stabilising National Plans in Nigeria,” Amos highlighted the administration’s accomplishments in health, education, and infrastructure as evidence of resourceful governance.
He noted that Adamawa State has proactively addressed citizens’ concerns in the face of economic challenges, violent extremism, and climate crises exacerbated by the subsidy removal.
“Just this week, the Adamawa State government has responded eloquently to these questions by reeling out its scorecard through ministerial press briefings,” Amos stated, commending Fintiri’s transparency and accountable governance. He described the governor as a model for other state leaders.
Achievements and Expert Commendations
The forum also featured stakeholders discussing strategies to leverage local leadership in stabilizing Nigeria’s national plans.
In his paper, “Sustaining Adamawa State’s Strategic Role in Stabilising National Plans in Nigeria,” Professor Kayode Asaju praised Fintiri’s administration for equitable resource distribution and notable achievements in development administration.
Similarly, Dr. Maurice Vonobolki, a development expert, attributed Adamawa’s improved human development indices to strategic investments in infrastructure, health, and education.
He also commended the administration’s proactive measures against insecurity, describing Fintiri’s leadership since 2019 as transformative.
Fintiri’s administration has maintained that it is possible for governments to build trust and improve citizens’ lives through effective resource management and developmental initiatives.
