Laolu Akande, a former spokesperson for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, has urged former President Olusegun Obasanjo to refrain from mocking other presidents.
Akande’s remarks come in response to Obasanjo’s recent comment referring to President Bola Tinubu as “Baba Go-Slow.” Speaking during a lecture at the Chinua Achebe Leadership Forum at Yale University, Obasanjo criticized the 2023 general elections, calling them a travesty and accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of compromising the BVAS system.
Addressing the issue on Channels TV’s Inside Sources, Akande emphasized that Nigeria’s political challenges stem from a crisis in leadership.
He stated, “On Inside Sources yesterday, during the segment My Take, we argued that former leaders like General Obasanjo should go beyond merely mocking sitting presidents. Nigeria faces significant political leadership challenges, but the more pressing issue is the deeper systemic problem that gives rise to these challenges.”
