The Jigawa State Hisbah Board has reaffirmed the prohibition on the importation, sale, and consumption of alcohol across the state.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, the Commandant of the board, Ibrahim Dahiru, stated that the ban aligns with the government’s efforts to reform the board and curb social vices.
As part of its enforcement operations, Hisbah personnel seized 78 cartons of assorted alcoholic beverages during an early morning raid on three beer parlours in Kazaure Local Government Area.
Dahiru revealed that no arrests were made, as the suspected owners of the alcohol fled before the arrival of the Hisbah team. He emphasized that the board would persist in its efforts to enforce the prohibition and prosecute violators.
The seized items, according to the Commandant, will be taken to court for further action. Hisbah remains committed to upholding the ban and promoting societal reforms in Jigawa State.
