Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson faced a disappointing defeat against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in Texas, losing by unanimous decision. At 58 years old, Tyson struggled to find his rhythm during the eight-round match held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Paul, 27, showcased his speed and movement, dominating the fight and earning scores of 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73 across all three judges’ cards.
Throughout the match, Tyson managed to land only a handful of significant punches, connecting with just 18 out of 97 thrown, while Paul threw an impressive 278 punches, landing 78. Despite an aggressive start, including a flurry of punches that had Tyson in trouble during the third round, Paul was unable to deliver the knockout he had promised at a tense weigh-in, where Tyson notably slapped him.
As the final seconds of the eighth round ticked away, Paul even bowed in respect to the former undisputed heavyweight champion, marking the end of a one-sided bout that highlighted the stark differences in their careers.
