Arc. Lola Ashiru, Nigeria’s Deputy Senate Leader and Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District, has reiterated his commitment to human capital development and youth empowerment as the foundation for national progress.

 

Senator Ashiru, represented by Honourable Jimoh Ismail, Senior Legislative Aide (SLA) to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio made this disclosure at the opening of the one-week “Digital Literacy and STEM for Beginners” training programme at ONEIH-Kola Balogun Technology Center (O-KBTC).

 

He went on emphasized the significance of investing in youth empowerment through technology education.

 

“This training is part of a larger effort that began last week with a focus on PCB Design and Fabrication. This week’s focus is on Digital Literacy and STEM for Beginners, and subsequent trainings will cover multimedia development, web design, and programming,” he said.

 

He highlighted the enduring value of human capital development, noting that technology education has become indispensable in today’s world.

 

“Human empowerment is crucial. It’s not enough to fish for you; we must teach you how to fish. This training is an investment in people—especially our youth, who are the future leaders. By equipping them with these skills, we are enabling them to contribute positively to society, our continent, and the world at large,” he added.

 

He thereafter urged participants to focus on their learning, stating, “By the end of this training, I am confident that you will have gained valuable knowledge that you can pass on to others.”

 

Engr. Femi Muhammed, a consultant representing Wiesbaden Nigeria Limited, also addressed the participants, encouraging them to maximize the opportunity.

 

“Thousands applied for this training, and you are among the fortunate few selected. Make the most of this chance, pay attention to the trainers, and I’m sure you will find the class insightful and beneficial,” he said.

 

The training is being delivered by Sanusi Sanusi, an instructor at One Innovation Hub (ONEIH) Offa, Kwara State.

 

ONEIH, in collaboration with Wiesbaden Nigeria Limited is hosting the training. It is sponsored by the National Productivity Center (NPC) and facilitated by Senator Ashiru.

 

The week-long programme, which runs from September 30 to October 4, 2024, aims to equip participants with foundational skills in digital literacy and STEM, fostering innovation and preparing them for future technological advancements.
