Qs Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode, the founder of the MOK Foundation, has been honoured with a Merit Award by the Offa Students Union (OSU) National Headquarters.
The award was presented as part of the grand finale of OSU’s 3-Day Educational Programme, which took place from Wednesday, May 22 to Friday, May 24.
The award was accepted on behalf of Alhaji Okunlola Kayode by the Foundation’s representatives, led by Mr. Nurudeen Mohammad, the Foundation’s Director of Media. During the event, the MOK Foundation also contributed a substantial amount of money to reward the best-performing students in quiz and debate competitions, as well as to support the OSU.
In his remarks, delivered by Mr. Nurudeen Mohammad, Alhaji Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode emphasized the importance of supporting students both materially and financially. “We are here again to give support to the students, material and financial support. We are here to give a token to support the students who have excelled in quiz and debate competitions organized by the Offa Students Union (OSU).”
He encouraged the students to continue striving for excellence, stating, “We also want to encourage them to do more. My encouragement to the students is that they should not relent on their oars. They should make sure they do more because whoever wants more do more. This is just a starting point.”
Highlighting the founder’s journey and philanthropic efforts, Mr. Mohammad added, “We want to tell them to come out well so as to be able to emulate the good gesture of the MOK Foundation in the nearest future. The founder of the foundation, Qs Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode, was once a student like them and today, he’s a philanthropist who’s giving to the less privileged, students, aged, people with disabilities (PWDs) and other categories of persons.”
He urged the students to focus on their studies to achieve great success and eventually give back to society as the MOK Foundation is doing now. “So, I will urge them to face their studies to come out in flying colours so they can become big people in the society. And they will be able to replicate what MOK Foundation is doing to them now.”
The OSU 3-Day Educational Programme aimed to foster academic excellence and provide students with opportunities to showcase their talents in various competitions. The support and encouragement from the MOK Foundation underscore the importance of private individuals involvement in nurturing future leaders.
