Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State delivered a message to workers during the May Day celebration in Ilorin, outlining detailed plans for a new minimum wage. He underscored the pivotal role of workers in governance and acknowledged their contributions to the socioeconomic development of the state.
Highlighting the economic challenges triggered by the removal of the fuel subsidy, the governor pledged to review responses within current realities. This included the implementation of another minimum wage once all necessary processes were concluded.
Governor Abdulrazaq elaborated on the efforts of the state government to mitigate the effects of the reforms. These efforts included the introduction of monthly transport support, also known as wage award, as well as staggered working days. Additionally, various promotion and welfare packages were implemented to bolster the spending power of workers.
