Three Nigerian students studying in the United Kingdom have launched a startup aimed at providing healthcare services to the elderly. Damilola Olaopa, the founder, along with his co-founders Hameed Abdulrahaman and Samuel Isatayo, are pursuing Master’s degrees in the UK.
The inspiration for the startup came to Olaopa after witnessing a colleague, who worked as a healthcare assistant, lose his father on October 1, 2023. This prompted him to conceive the idea of offering healthcare services to the elderly.
According to a statement released on Thursday, Olaopa revealed plans to expand the startup’s operations across Europe and other countries such as the US and Canada. Presently, the startup, named Sandfortcare Limited, is primarily focused on catering to Nigerians living in the UK. It is registered under the Companies Act 2006 as a private company, limited by shares, and registered in Scotland.
Abdulrahaman explained that Sandfortcare is dedicated to providing personalized and compassionate healthcare and support services to the parents of Nigerians residing in the UK. The startup aims to ensure that parents in Nigeria receive top-quality care tailored to their individual needs, providing peace of mind to their children in the UK.
Isatayo elaborated on the subscription-based model, stating that for a monthly fee, parents in Nigeria would receive personalized care and support plans, regular health checks, nutrition and meal planning, remote consultations, and medication management. Additionally, the family members in the UK sponsoring the service would receive timely parent wellness reports.
