The Oyo State Government on Friday, sealed a Lounge, located in Ibadan, over its reluctance to comply with the State environmental regulations.
The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Architect Abdulmojeed Olawale Mogbonjubola, who led a team of Environmental officers, to the facility, JAYS Restaurant and Lounge, frowned at the consistent, recalcitrant attitude of the facility owner towards the states extant regulations.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Ministry had visited and sealed the restaurant over its violation of the rules.
However, the facility owner jettisoned the warning, removed the Government closure Seals from the premises, and commenced illegal operations.
The Honourable Commissioner, disclosed that today’s enforcement was in the instance of violation of Government directive by the owner and workers of the Lounge.
He affirmed that despite the restaurant’s outside appearance, it lacked refuse dumping and sanitary drums, absence of Medical or Fumigation Certificate, bushy backyard, failure to provide aprons and headcaps for food handlers, which may put visitors at risks.
Architect Mogbonjubola reaffirmed the commitment of His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, towards sanitizing and ensuring an environment friendly State.
He called on owners of companies, industries, facilities and residents, to obey Oyo State Environmental laws, as violators would be made to face the wrath of law.
