In a recent statement, Dr Boniface Aniebonam, the founder of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), vehemently defended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano state amidst ongoing legal challenges.
Governor Abbah Kabir Yusuf, a member of NNPP, has faced legal scrutiny with cases at the tribunal and appeal court. Dr. Aniebonam expressed confidence in the Supreme Court’s ability to deliver justice, emphasizing that Governor Yusuf is a “child of God and destiny.”

Highlighting Governor Yusuf’s legitimacy as an NNPP member, Dr. Aniebonam asserted that only the political party determines its membership, not INEC or any external party. He clarified that Governor Yusuf’s candidacy in the 2023 gubernatorial election was endorsed by NNPP and presented to Kano residents through INEC.
Addressing alleged unconstitutional pronouncements stemming from internal party conflicts, Dr. Aniebonam, as NNPP’s founder, declared his commitment to addressing these issues after the Supreme Court’s judgment.
In the midst of political tensions, Dr. Aniebonam urged NNPP and its affiliate bodies to maintain peace, emphasizing the party’s commitment to the welfare of the masses. He called for faith in the Supreme Court to ensure justice and peace in Kano, concluding with a plea for harmony and justice for all parties involved.
The NNPP founder’s statement comes as a reaffirmation of support for Governor Abbah Kabir Yusuf and a call for unity within the party, awaiting the Supreme Court’s final verdict on the matter.
