The recent unveiling of the new Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, Limited coupled with the approved upward review in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, from 165 to 179 naira per litre has generated diverse reactions from Nigerians.

Residents of Benin City, the Edo State capital, however, express their position on the recent development as it affects their day to day lives and it’s impact on the economy.

Before the new directive from NNPC Limited to fuel marketers to increase the pump from 165 to 179 naira per litre, fuel scarcity has persisted in some parts of the country.

Where the product is available, it was sold at a price higher than the official pump price

Some residents including commercial drivers and traders while commenting on the recent development highlights various challenges confronting them and with this it would further enhance their hardships

They further appealed to the federal government on the need to have a rethink on her earlier decision

Residents of Benin City are therefore hoping that the federal government would come up with right measure to address the issue.
