Seven persons were reportedly burnt beyond recognition in an accident that occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan express road, On Thursday.

It was learned that the deadly collision took place a short distance after the Saapade Bridge.

According to the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, the collision involved a total of 27 people, 25 of them were adult males.

The FRSC’s spokesman in Ogun, Florence Okpe, disclosed that 17 adult males and one adult female were injured, and “a total of seven persons were burnt beyond recognition.”

She claimed that a Mazda bus with the license plate BDN18 LG and a Toyota Sienna with the registration number BWR762PV collided head-on and caught fire.

Okpe blamed the driver of the Sienna bus for “excessive speed and route violation.”

She said that the driver of the Sienna bus had swerved into oncoming traffic and struck the Mazda bus. “Unfortunately, there was a fire outbreak,” she noted.

She went on to say that some of the injured people were brought to Victory Hospital in Ogere while others were taken to Idera Hospital in Sagamu.

According to accounts, the victims’ remains were placed at the FOS mortuary in Ipara.
