In his musical track titled “my history”, Pasuma narrates how his mum Alhaja Kuburat Odetola single-handedly raised him and how she was the first person that believed in his dreams as a musician before the stardom.

Pasuma was born into a polygamous family of Odetola, which consisted of 12 children. He was the only son from his late mom Kuburat to his dad Odetola. Indeed, late Alhaja Kuburat Odetola was one of the most popular, best nursing mother among other moms world-wide.

Her passion, support, enthusiasm and prayers went a long way in the life of Alhaji Alabi Wasiu Pasuma Wonder, she served as a surge to limelight for him.

Lovingly, I’m a fan of fuji musicians, but a loyalist and an apprentice under the tutelage of Pasuma, an iconic musician. Even though I am yet to meet him physically, his lyrical composition and his success story was so fascinating to boost the morale of an upcoming artist and young entrepreneur in the 21st century.

Ubiquitously, Pasuma began singing and writing songs at age 17 while in secondary school in 1984. It is on record that he drew inspiration from K1 De Ultimate (the Talazo 84 hitmaker). Pasuma has over 35 albums, including the debut release, his recognition come in 1993 released his official first music album in 1993.

Pasuma’s success stories would be incomplete without appraising the sacrifices of his late mom.

According to the renowned artist, he always said his mom was true personification of the axiom: “behind every successful man, there is a woman.”Unarguably Alh. Kuburat was a giver of hope, support, enthusiasm and optimism. You will hardly believed that, except you understand how hard it was for a Fuji musician in those days of stunted technology be spotted with zero support.

It is no surprise that, Pasuma always finds amazing lyrics on stage to praise his late mom during her life time, and I believe it will never end there. In one of his songs, he said: “ẹ jẹ ká dupẹ lọwọ èjìká tí ó jẹ kí ẹwú jabọ, ní mo ṣe dupẹ lọwọ Adijat Kuburat my màmá, tí ó bá ṣe tí ti òbí kí ni afẹ má pé ní ẹ̀kọ́? Adijatu Kuburatu ẹsẹ ún gan-an, my mama (we should be grateful to our shoulders that uphold our attires, if not with the aids of our parents where would the good legacy come from? I’m indeed grateful to her, Alhaja Adijat Kuburat Odetola, my mother”.

However, Alhaja Adijat Kuburat Odetola has paid her dues, she has paid her ultimate prize and that’s inevitable for every soul. Ardently speaking, she had a solid legacy amongst her peers during her lifetime, and whichever will be a providence for success afterward.

“The heart of a mother is a deep abyss at the bottom of which you will always find forgiveness” Honore De Balzac.

May the soul of late Alhaja Kuburat Odetola rest in perfect peace.
