A six-month pregnant woman and four other people were killed by terrorists in the Agwa hamlet of Niger State’s Rafi local government area.
As numerous others were hurt, the terrorists also kidnapped 50 people.
The military on an aerial patrol engaged the terrorists in gunfire, stopping their attack. It was learned that the terrorists had invaded Agwa village in the Rafi local government area and had been shooting randomly.
Frustrated by the intense aerial combat, the terrorists fled, but not before kidnapping 50 civilians, mostly women and children.
The people in the community expressed fear over their safety during the upcoming Governorship and House of elections which would take place on Saturday.
Niger Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs, Emmanuel Umar, who confirmed the incident said that the real number of casualties is yet to be ascertained.
