Kenneth Okonkwo, a chieftain of the Labour Party, LP, has labelled the All Progressives Congress, APC, a religious party.
He made the this assertion on Thursday when he appeared on Channels Television 2023 Verdict.
The spokesperson of the LP Presidential Campaign Council stated that the same faith ticket of the APC was against the provisions of the constitution.
Okonkwo said the fact that the country’s laws highlights fairness was an indication that the religion must be taken into consideration in politics and governance.
He noted that APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, his running mate Kashim Shettima and others top officers holders are Muslims.
“The APC chairman (Abdullahi Adamu) is Muslim, the Senate President (Ahmad Lawan) is Muslim, the House of Representatives Speaker (Femi Gbajabiamila) is Muslim.
“The Deputy Speaker (Ahmed Wase) is Muslim. APC is a religious party, they are religious. This is a multi-religious country,” the LP member said.
Okonkwo also claimed there are plans to make Lawan and Gbajabiamila return to their positions if the ruling party retains power.
