…..Gives State Govt 72 Hours To Address Their Grievances Or Risk Shutting Down Ministry Of Education
Members of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Kwara State Chapter protested against the Kwara State Government in Ilorin, the state capital, on Thursday.
Proprietors, trooped out in large numbers, were seen holding different placards with different inscriptions such as “We say NO to inhuman Treatment of private schools in Kwara”, “WAEC/NECO are not Tax Collectors in Kwara state”, “WAEC/NECO are now tools for oppressing private schools in Kwara state” and so on.
According to them, the Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq-led government is giving them unfavorable terrain for practice through ‘unhumane educational policies’ which result to “fraudulent multiple taxation.”
The educationists who besieged Governor’s office to show their anger described Abdulrazaq government as that which is using the name of prominent examination bodies such the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) to extort illegal taxation from private school owners in the state.
They thereafter gave the government 72hours to attend to their grievances or risk mass occupation and shut down of the Ministry of Education.
Our correspondent who was present at the protest ground said no Government officials attended to the protesters as at the time of filing this report.
