The Governing Council of The Federal Polytechnic Offa has approved the appointment of Mr. Eghe M. Igbinehi as Acting Rector of the Polytechnic with effect from Monday, 16th January 2023 pending the appointment of a Substantive Rector.

This was contained in a release signed by Polytechnic Director of Information, Public Relations and Protocols, Olayinka Iroye on Friday 13th January 2023.

The release read,
“The Governing Council has approved the appointment of Mr. Eghe M. Igbinehi as Acting Rector of the Polytechnic with effect from Monday, 16th January 2023 pending the appointment of a Substantive Rector
Mr. Igbinehi is to take over from Dr. Olarongbe Afolabi whose tenure as Acting Rector will expire on 16th January, 2023.

“Born on 3rd of April, 1961 in Oredo Local Government, Edo State. Mr. Igbinehi after his elementary education, proceeded to the University of Benin where he bagged a B.Ed in Mathematics in 1985, and M.Sc. in Mathematics in 1989 from the University of Lagos.

“He joined the service of the Polytechnic in October, 1992 and rose through the ranks to become a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics on 1st July, 2002.

“Mr. Igbinehi who is the most senior Chief Lecturer in the Federal Polytechnic Offa has served the Polytechnic in different capacities. He was twice Head of Department of Mathematics & Statistics, Director School of Applied Sciences and Technology in 2006. He served for two tenures as Deputy Rector (Academics) from 2009 to 2011 and 2011 to 2013 and was at two different times Director of Academic Planning. He was also the pioneer Chairman of ASUP, The Federal Polytechnic Offa Chapter.

“He has attended various academic seminars, conferences and workshops and has many conference/seminar papers and standard textbooks to his credit.

“Mr. Igbinehi is happily married and blessed with children.

“The Governing Council, Management, Staff and Students wish him a successful tenure of office.”
