The Oyo State Government has approved the early closure of offices across all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to allow public servants participate fully in the grand finale of activities marking the stateโs 50th anniversary.
The directive, which underscores the administrationโs commitment to inclusive civic celebration, was conveyed in a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Musibau Adetunji Babatunde.
According to the statement, all state government offices are to close by 12 noon on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as part of final preparations for the golden jubilee celebration, tagged Oyo@50.
The approval, granted by Governor Seyi Makinde, reflects a deliberate policy choice to balance governance with heritage, enabling public officers to be part of what the government described as a historic milestone in the stateโs journey.
Heads of MDAs were directed to ensure strict compliance with the directive, while making adequate arrangements for skeletal services in critical sectors to avoid disruption of essential public services.
Babatunde emphasised the need for the directive to be given wide publicity to ensure awareness and seamless compliance across the state.
