President Bola Tinubu on Friday met with Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for a high-level briefing on the evolving security situation in the state.
During the meeting, the governor updated the President on the successful rescue of worshippers abducted in Kajuru Local Government Area, describing the development as a major breakthrough in ongoing security operations.
Sani said the victims were taken when gunmen attacked churches in the Kurmin Wali community on January 18. According to him, their freedom was secured through sustained and coordinated operations by federal and state security agencies, which led to the gradual release of the abductees over the past week.
The incident had generated widespread anxiety across Kaduna after more than 100 worshippers were kidnapped during the assault on three churches in the community.
In a related development, the governor disclosed that he received 183 rescued victims on Thursday after they spent 19 days in captivity. He described their safe return as a significant step in efforts to strengthen security and reassure residents.
