Immigration Service Raises Alarm Over Fake Recruitment Websites

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has cautioned Nigerians, particularly job seekers, against a spate of fraudulent online platforms falsely claiming to be conducting recruitment into the Service.

In a disclaimer issued on Tuesday through its official X handle, the NIS made it clear that it is not carrying out any independent recruitment exercise at this time, distancing itself from viral notices circulating across social media and other digital channels.

The Service explained that the only legitimate recruitment involving the NIS is being coordinated centrally by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), in line with established government procedures.

According to the NIS, all credible information, updates and application processes relating to the ongoing exercise are hosted exclusively on the official CDCFIB recruitment portal. It advised members of the public to rely solely on information published through that channel, stressing that transparency and due process remain the cornerstone of public service recruitment.

The Service further warned that any website, link or advertisement outside the CDCFIB framework is unauthorised and should be treated with utmost suspicion. Such platforms, it noted, are often designed to exploit desperate job seekers through misinformation and financial scams.

Reiterating its commitment to protecting Nigerians from fraud, the NIS urged applicants to remain vigilant and to verify recruitment information before taking any action, warning that falling for fake portals could result in financial loss and personal data compromise.
