The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd), has openly declared his intention to formally join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), confirming that he is gradually transitioning into partisan politics.
General Musa made the disclosure while speaking on Sunday Politics, a political affairs programme on Channels Television, where he described his current status as one of political transition rather than full alignment.
“I’ve not transitioned yet. I’m in transition. I think I’ll become a politician, a member of the APC, definitely,” the Defence Minister said.
The former Chief of Defence Staff expressed appreciation to the APC, noting that the party provided the political platform under which he was appointed first as Chief of Defence Staff and later as Minister of Defence. He added that this, in his view, naturally places him in a position to support the ruling party.
Musa stressed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserves total backing, particularly at a time when the country is grappling with complex security and governance challenges.
“Mr President needs all support, totally,” he said, affirming his readiness to contribute in every possible way to the success of the Tinubu administration.
