APC Chair Dismisses Occult Claims Over Tinubu’s Infinity Insignia

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, has pushed back firmly against claims that the infinity symbol often seen on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cap carries occult or cultic meanings, describing the narrative as politically motivated mischief.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Yilwatda said the allegations were part of a broader attempt by critics to manufacture controversy around the President and mislead the public.

He maintained that the infinity symbol, which has become closely associated with Tinubu’s political branding, represents freedom rather than any hidden or sinister agenda.

According to the APC chairman, the emblem symbolises freedom of association, freedom from poverty and the consolidation of Nigeria’s democratic journey following the exit of military rule in 1999.

“That is the context in which the symbol was introduced,” Yilwatda said. “Those who believe in the President and his vision embraced it and began wearing it as a statement of freedom.”

Responding directly to suggestions that the symbol was a coded signal designed to exert control or influence, Yilwatda dismissed the claims as baseless and opportunistic.

He argued that political opponents were intent on exploiting any perceived opening to cast the President in a negative light, even where none exists.

“Critics do not define the moment,” he added. “They are simply looking for loopholes to create an impression in society, and this is clearly one of such attempts.”
