President Bola Tinubu has arrived in the United Arab Emirates to participate in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week summit, a high-level global forum focused on sustainable development.
The President touched down in the UAE at about 11 p.m. local time and was received by the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, signalling the start of Nigeria’s engagement at the influential gathering.
Confirming the development, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, said the President was attending the summit at the invitation of the UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
According to Onanuga, the annual forum brings together leaders from government and the business community to deliberate on pathways to sustainable development and long-term economic resilience.
This year’s edition of the summit is themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” reflecting a renewed emphasis on integrated approaches to global sustainability challenges.
President Tinubu’s participation follows his departure from Nigeria on December 28, when he left Lagos for what the Presidency described as an end-of-year break in Europe. During the period, he was last week seen in France holding a meeting with the President of Rwanda.
The President is expected to return to Nigeria after the week-long summit, as his administration continues to position the country within global conversations on sustainability and development.
