Grief hung heavy in the air on Friday as family members, colleagues and sympathisers gathered in Osogbo, Osun State, to bid a final farewell to a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer, Lasisi Oluwamayokun, and her young daughter, Adesewa, whose tragic deaths have continued to stir public outrage.
The burial, held at St John’s Anglican Church, Ita-Olookan, Osogbo, was marked by raw emotion as mourners struggled to come to terms with the brutal circumstances surrounding the demise of the 38-year-old officer and her child. Tears flowed freely as the remains were committed to mother earth, underscoring the depth of loss suffered by both the immediate family and the wider FRSC community.
Oluwamayokun, who served with the Ogun State Command of the FRSC, and her daughter were declared missing on Sunday, November 2, 2025, after leaving their residence at Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. Their disappearance initially triggered anxious searches before the grim discovery that they had been murdered.
Police investigations later led to the arrest of Victor Fajemirokun, identified as the deceased officer’s intimate partner. During police interrogation, he reportedly confessed to luring the mother and child to Osun State, where they were allegedly killed with the involvement of two herbalists. The suspects—Gboyega Daramola and Sunday James—were subsequently paraded by the Osun State Police Command in Osogbo, a development that further shocked the public.
At the funeral service, colleagues described Oluwamayokun as a disciplined and dedicated officer who balanced professional commitment with motherhood. Speakers lamented the growing wave of violent crimes and called for decisive action by authorities to restore public confidence and deter similar acts.
