Residents of Kwara South Senatorial District have continued to benefit from a wide-rang healthcare intervention, facilitated by the Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru.
The outreach, part of the Kwara South Health Intervention Projects: 2026 Medical Outreach, has provided free medical services, preventive care, and health education to hundreds of residents across three Local Government areas since it commenced on Tuesday.
Patients received various forms of medical attention, including general consultations, medication administration, blood pressure management, eye and ear care services.
Health personnel attending to patients disclosed that individuals diagnosed with cataract-related eye conditions during the outreach have been registered for corrective surgery, with appointment dates to be communicated directly to affected patients.
In addition, blood pressure monitoring devices were distributed to patients identified with high blood pressure, enabling them to regularly track their condition and manage it more effectively beyond the outreach.
Earwax removal procedures were also carried out for patients with hearing-related complaints, while essential medications were administered free of charge to beneficiaries based on medical diagnosis.
Beyond treatment, the outreach featured structured health talks delivered by medical professionals at all three locations.
The talks focus on disease prevention, healthy living, and the importance of early medical intervention.
The outreach was earlier held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Ile Abasi Hall, Ekan, Oke-Ero Local Government Area; on Wednesday, January 28, at the Primary Health Care Centre, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Igbaja, in Ifelodun Local Government Area and today, Thursday, January 29, at Basic Health Care Centre, Omupo, in Ifelodun Local Government Area,
Beneficiaries across the communities commended the initiative.
They describe it as timely and impactful, particularly for residents who face challenges accessing quality healthcare due to cost and distance.
Senator Ashiru, through his Aides who represented him at these places reiterated his commitment to strengthening grassroots healthcare delivery, noting that access to quality medical services remains central to sustainable development and improved quality of life in Kwara South.
The week-long intervention will be complemented with the distribution of medical equipment and essential drugs to selected primary healthcare centres across the district, further reinforcing healthcare infrastructure at the community level.
