[PHOTOS] Youth Group Endorses Chief Murtala Awolola For Kwara South Senate Seat

A youth-based political support group under the aegis of the CMA Youth Group has formally endorsed Chief Murtala Awolola for the Kwara South Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general election.

The endorsement took place on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at the Cooperative Society Hall, Ajase-Ipo, in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, and attracted supporters and stakeholders from the seven local government areas that make up the senatorial district.

Speaking on behalf of Chief Awolola at the event, Mr. Taofeek Awolola described the aspirant as a man driven by genuine concern for community development rather than personal ambition.

He said Chief Awolola has remained accessible to the people and has consistently demonstrated a willingness to support individuals and communities, even without holding public office.

According to him, several development-oriented initiatives earlier facilitated by Chief Awolola could not be fully executed due to the absence of government backing at the time.

He cited the establishment of a technical college in Erin-Ile, later sited along the Ajase-Ipo Road, as well as plans for a stadium project in Erin-Ile that stalled due to land-related challenges.

He explained that these experiences informed the decision of supporters to encourage Chief Awolola to seek elective office, noting that his senatorial ambition is rooted in a desire to expand his capacity to serve the people of Kwara South.

“My boss is not contesting for personal gain. He is already comfortable, but he wants to give back to the community. He does not make promises he cannot fulfil, and that is why we believe in him,” he said.

He also urged Kwara Southerners to rally behind the aspiration.

Also speaking, the State Coordinator of the CMA Youth Group, Mr. Ganiyu Bayo Sonibare, said the endorsement was based on Chief Awolola’s record of selfless service and his consistent contributions to the growth of the All Progressives Congress (APC) within and outside Nigeria.

Sonibare noted that Chief Awolola, an APC member based in Germany, has remained actively involved in party activities. He recalled that during the 2023 general elections, the aspirant established two political support groups to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He added that the group had carried out extensive consultations across the seven local government areas of Kwara South—Isin, Ekiti, Offa, Irepodun, Ifelodun, Oke-Ero and Oyun—where stakeholders reportedly expressed broad support for Chief Awolola’s senatorial ambition.

“We are doing this because we believe Kwara South deserves quality and people-oriented representation,” Sonibare said.

In her remarks, the Women Leader of the group, Hajia Nimatallahi Mustapha, praised Chief Awolola’s philanthropic interventions, particularly his commitment to women and youth empowerment across the district.

She highlighted his sponsorship of three female footballers to the Turkish Women’s League, noting that the players are currently thriving in their professional careers.

According to her, the initiative exemplifies practical empowerment and underscores his compassion for the less privileged.

Hajia Mustapha added that Chief Awolola has initiated several support programmes for vulnerable groups in Kwara South, which informed the decision of women within the movement to support his senatorial bid.

She urged residents to back what she described as a credible and compassionate aspirant.

Coordinators of the CMA Youth Group across the seven local government areas were also present at the event. They include Adeniran Bode (Irepodun), Bamidele Kashim (Ifelodun), Ashaolu Yemi (Oke-Ero), Jeremiah Babalola (Ekiti), Ajiboye Wasiu (Isin), Bello Taofiq (Offa) and Kasope Ahmed (Oyun).

Other notable attendees were Ibrahim Aree, Coordinator of the CMA Youth Group in Kwara Central, and Hon. Aliyu Jamiu (Dodo).
