The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested three suspects over their alleged involvement in kidnapping, robbery and theft across parts of Nasarawa State.
The state command of the corps disclosed this on Tuesday while parading the suspects at its headquarters in Lafia.
Speaking through the Public Relations Officer, DSC Jerry Victor, the State Commandant, Brah Samson Umoru, said the suspects were arrested at different locations following sustained intelligence-led operations.
According to him, one of the suspects, 27-year-old Muktar Shuaibu, was arrested in Kwandere village, Lafia Local Government Area, in connection with a kidnapping-related attack that had unsettled residents of Ungwan Liman and surrounding communities.
Umoru said Shuaibu, alongside an accomplice identified simply as Ogobon who is currently at large, allegedly attacked an elderly Fulani man in Bassa village, Doma Local Government Area, while attempting to dispossess him of his motorcycle.
He explained that the victim was rescued by passers-by, an intervention that led to Shuaibu’s arrest. The suspect was subsequently handed over to Operation Whirl Stroke of the Nigerian Army for further investigation and prosecution.
The NSCDC boss added that the command also arrested one Haruna Jibrin, 43, from Ungwan Liman, Lafia, on January 2, 2026, over the alleged robbery and theft of tin ore minerals valued at more than ₦3.5m.
He noted that Jibrin was cooperating with investigators and had provided information that could lead to the arrest of other members of his criminal gang who are currently on the run.
Umoru further disclosed that a third suspect, Dahiru Hussaini, was apprehended for allegedly stealing two mobile phones and other valuables belonging to his friend, Abdusamat Hussaini, of Kauran Moyi, Lafia Local Government Area.
He said all the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, stressing that the command remained resolute in its determination to rid Nasarawa State of criminal elements.
The commandant warned those involved in criminal activities to desist or face the full weight of the law, while urging residents to continue to support the corps with timely and credible information to enhance security across the state’s 13 local government areas.
