The Nigeria Police Force has deployed a new senior officer to Katsina State, with Umar Nadada formally assuming duty as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 14 Headquarters, Katsina.
Nadada, the eighth AIG to oversee the zone, took over leadership on Tuesday amid sustained concerns over security challenges in parts of the state and its environs. His appointment signals a strategic recalibration by the police hierarchy, banking on experience and institutional memory to strengthen crime prevention and restore public confidence.
In a statement, the Zone 14 Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Umar Muhammad, described the new AIG as a seasoned professional with an extensive track record across operational, investigative and administrative roles nationwide.
According to the police, Nadada is expected to deploy his expertise to reinforce policing outcomes, deepen community engagement and align zonal operations with ongoing reforms within the force.
The statement noted that the AIG hails from Rano Local Government Area of Kano State and brings a solid academic and professional background to the assignment. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Biology from Bayero University, Kano, obtained in 1989, and a Master’s degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, earned in 2010.
Nadada was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and received professional training at the Nigeria Police Academy, Annex, Kaduna.
