The Jigawa State Government has approved N2.6 billion to underwrite the 2026 Hajj exercise, signalling an early and strategic commitment to a seamless pilgrimage for intending pilgrims from the state.
The approval was granted at the State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday in Dutse, according to the Commissioner for Information, Sagir Musa, who briefed journalists after the session.
Musa said the allocation is designed to guarantee efficiency across the entire Hajj operation, with particular emphasis on pilgrims’ welfare and logistics from departure to return. He explained that the funds would cover key components, including air transportation, accommodation, feeding, medical services, orientation programmes and other operational requirements.
“This is to ensure a hitch-free pilgrimage for all pilgrims from the state as they embark on the holy journey,” the commissioner said, underscoring the administration’s resolve to minimise hardship and logistical bottlenecks.
He added that the state government would conduct the exercise strictly in line with guidelines issued by Saudi Arabian authorities, stressing that transparency and accountability would guide the utilisation of the funds.
Musa further disclosed that relevant agencies have been directed to work in close coordination to deliver a well-organised Hajj operation, reflecting the government’s broader governance ethos of planning ahead and safeguarding public trust.
The approval comes amid growing expectations for improved service delivery in pilgrimage management, with the Jigawa Government positioning itself to meet both regulatory standards and the spiritual needs of its citizens.
