Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has commenced a series of strategic consultations with stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as part of a broader effort to review the party’s standing and consolidate its grassroots presence across the state.
The engagements, which began this week, are designed to take stock of the PDP’s performance, refine internal strategies and create a platform for frank discussions on political and governance issues affecting Zamfara.
A statement issued on Wednesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, explained that the initiative underscores Governor Lawal’s preference for inclusive leadership and evidence-based political planning.
The first of the meetings was held on Tuesday at the Rescue Hall, Government House, Gusau, and brought together PDP leaders and stakeholders from Gummi and Maru local government areas.
According to Idris, the sessions provide a rare opportunity for direct interaction between the governor and party leaders at the local level, allowing for open dialogue on challenges confronting both the party and the state.
“These meetings enable the governor to listen to concerns, receive constructive advice and obtain critical feedback from party stakeholders on pressing political matters,” the statement said.
Idris added that the consultations would be extended to stakeholders from all 14 local government areas of the state in the coming weeks, signalling a deliberate attempt to carry every segment of the party along in decision-making.
He stressed that the ongoing engagements reflect the PDP’s sustained relevance and organisational strength in Zamfara, noting that regular interaction with stakeholders remains central to building party cohesion and delivering effective governance.
