The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has categorically rejected, condemned and dissociated itself from the unconstitutional, fraudulent and purported Annual General Conference (AGC) unilaterally and recklessly organised by Comr. Debo Adeniran with his conspirators. The purported AGC was reported to have held in Ota, Ogun State, on Saturday, 24th January, 2026, against the unanimous decision of the National Executive Committee, which has the exclusive constitutional mandate and power to decide all matters pertaining to the planning and convening of AGC in CDHR, including the venue and date. NEC had unanimously decided that the AGC shall hold at Abeokuta, Ogun State on Saturday 31st January, 2026.
The unconstitutional and purported AGC by Debo Adeniran at Ota was a complete nullity illegal, and unknown to the NEC, which is the only organ constitutionally empowered to convene and organise an AGC, as clearly provided under Chapter 2, Subsection 2, page 22 of the CDHR Constitution. The sham AGC was not known to the Board of Trustees (BoT) and the legitimate National Council (NC). All the members of NEC, Board of Trustees and the National Council are constitutional delegates to AGC and elections of National Officers of CDHR. Non members of CDHR and unqualified persons were fraudulently imported by Debo Adeniran and admitted as delegates. Nonexistent Branches were fraudulently imported to participate in the purported AGC. Any attempt to bypass the NEC in matters pertaining to AGC, including the venue, date and delegates amounts to gross violation of the Constitution of CDHR and constitutes an assault on the collective will of the organisation.
During its meeting, properly convened and held on 5th January 2026, presided over by the President, Mr. Debo Adeniran, the NEC unequivocally resolved and decided that the 2025 AGC of CDHR shall be held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, from 30th January to 1st February 2026. The President, Mr. Debo Adeniran, had even written to the Nigeria Labour Congress requesting the use of the NLC Hall in Abeokuta for the AGC. For his personal interest and selfish fraudulent purpose, Debo Adeniran conspired with some persons, including non-members of CDHR and held a purported AGC in Ota.
Consequently, the NEC has totally disowned the illegal gathering masquerading as an AGC and has warned members and the general public not to be deceived or misled by this blatant charade.
The NEC has directed all legitimate delegates to ignore, reject, and distance themselves from the said illegal assembly and to prepare for the constitutionally sanctioned AGC by NEC, scheduled to hold at Abeokuta on Saturday, 31st January, 2026.
The NEC further condemned, in the strongest terms, the deliberate importation and admisson of fictitious, unregistered, unrecognised, and uninaugurated groups as branches, including those fraudulently presented as representing Taraba, Sokoto, Gombe, Borno, and Adamawa States.
Even more alarming was the brazen deployment of impostors to falsely represent duly recognised branches in Ogun, Rivers, Kwara, and Delta States, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja), alongside the resurrection of moribund and inactive branches such as Kogi, Plateau, Niger, and Ebonyi States, which have remained dormant since 2015 and 2019.
These actions by Debo Adeniran and his conspirators amount to institutional fraud and a deliberate attempt to subvert the democratic structures of CDHR.
The NEC will not tolerate any attempt to hijack, undermine, or bastardise the organisation through unconstitutional actions, corruption, fraud, deception, or the use of impostors.
The National Executive Committee (NEC) remains resolute in its commitment to constitutionalism, internal democracy, and the protection of the integrity of CDHR, and reserves the right to take all necessary and legitimate steps to address these violations. The NEC has observed this charade as a calculated attempt to polarise branches of CDHR for reasons best known to its peddlers.
The National Executive Committee (NEC) hereby alerts all members to prepare to attend the forthcoming legitimate AGC scheduled for 30th January to 1st February 2026 in Abeokuta.
It would be recalled that the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Femi Falana, SAN, has distanced himself from this charade by Debo Adeniran and his conspirators, following attempts to mislead the public and members into believing that the Board of Trustees endorsed or supported their illegality.
Members of CDHR and the public are advised to be wary of the following impostors parading themselves as executives of the CDHR:
1. GODWIN ANYEBE
2. DEJI ADEBOWALE
3. IMRANA YAHAYA
4. AKINRINADE WAHAB
5. NAABULOBARI NAZINGHA-LUE

7. MUSA GWANI TURARE
Members of CDHR and the general public are also advised to be wary of the purported inclusion and or addition of Mr. Olasupo Ojo who may parade himself as a member of the Board of Trustees of the CDHR.
These individuals are not members of the National Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees, respectively; they are not officers of CDHR in any capacity. Anyone who deals with them, collectively or severally, does so at his or her own peril. The vast members of CDHR, the security agencies, the media and Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) are particularly admonished to take notice of these irregularities and misrepresentations.
