The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has welcomed the judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, describing it as a clear vindication of its earlier position on the party’s internal crisis and Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election strategy.
In its ruling, the court nullified the purported PDP National Convention held in Ibadan on November 15, 2025, and barred Alhaji Taminu Turaki and others from parading themselves as national officers of the party.
The court further affirmed that the Caretaker Committee led by Ambassador Abdulrahman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu remains the only recognised National Working Committee of the PDP, pending the conduct of a valid national convention.
Reacting to the judgment, the Osun PDP said the decision validated its support for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s decision to pursue his re-election bid on the platform of the Accord Party, rather than remaining enmeshed in what it described as a predictable web of confusion, internal sabotage and electoral uncertainty within the PDP at the national level.
According to the party, the move was a strategic and principled intervention aimed at safeguarding the popular mandate freely given to Governor Adeleke by the people of Osun State, as well as ensuring continuity in governance and development.
The party leadership, under the State Working Committee chaired by Hon. Sunday Bisi, noted that events have now proven that the decision was neither impulsive nor driven by personal interests, but taken in the overall interest of democracy and political stability in the state.
“The judgment has once again shown that the Osun PDP acted with foresight and courage at a critical moment, choosing the path that best protected the mandate and developmental vision of Governor Ademola Adeleke,” the party said.
Reassuring residents of the state, the party pledged to continue taking decisions guided strictly by the collective interest of the masses, warning against what it described as ego-driven politics and political adventurism capable of derailing the progress recorded by the present administration.
It also urged the people of Osun to ignore what it called the antics of detractors and political opportunists, whom it accused of working against the interest of the state under the guise of internal opposition.
The Osun PDP appealed to residents to remain steadfast in their support for Governor Adeleke’s people-oriented leadership, while calling on all stakeholders involved in the PDP’s national leadership dispute to seek an urgent and amicable resolution of the crisis.
The party expressed confidence that, with sustained public support, the administration’s progressive vision and developmental agenda would continue to translate into tangible benefits for the people of Osun State.
