Banditry: Saraki’s Delegation Visits Family of Kidnapped Afin Monarch, Makes Financial Donation

…..Prays for Kabiyesi’s Safe Return

The leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State and President of the 8th Nigerian Senate, His Excellency, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki (CON), has constituted a high-powered delegation to visit the family of the Oniwo of Afin community in the Ileere District of Ifelodun Local Government Area, following the recent bandit attack on the royal palace.

His Royal Highness, Oba Simeon Olaonipekun (the Oniwo of Afin), and one of his children, Olaolu, a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), were abducted on December 31 during a violent raid on the palace by suspected bandits.

The delegation was led by the revered man of God and Kwara PDP State Treasurer, Reverend COS Fawenu, who delivered Dr. Saraki’s message of hope, solidarity, and encouragement to the traumatized royal family.

In his remarks, Rev. Fawenu thanked God Almighty on behalf of the family for the safe return of Corper Olaolu, who was abducted alongside the monarch, and for the steady recovery of the Queen, who sustained a gunshot injury to her right arm during the attack.

He as well conveyed Dr. Saraki’s commiseration to the royal family and the entire Afin community over the unfortunate incident, and reassured them of his continuous prayers and concern for the safe and speedy return of Kabiyesi to reunite with his family and people.

The delegation also in behalf of Dr Bukola Saraki presented a cash donation to the family to support them during this difficult period of recovery and expectations.

Responding on behalf of the family, Pastor Enoch of ECWA Church expressed deep appreciation to Dr. Saraki for identifying with them even outside the corridors of power. He described the gesture as a clear demonstration that Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki is a leader with a human face, whose compassion and sense of responsibility transcend political office.

Other members of the delegation included Hon. Dr. W.W. Memudu, PDP Local Government Chairman, Ifelodun, Hon. Wasiu Odewale, former Commissioner, Elder Wale Olawomo, PDP Chairmanship Candidate for Ifelodun LGA, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Zubairu, Immediate Past PDP Chairman, Ifelodun, Mr. Segun Adwuyi, Youth Stakeholder, Ifelodun LGA, and Comrade Olusegun Olusola Adewara, the State Publicity Secretary, of PDP in Kwara State
