Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on his supporters to remain calm and focused despite the ongoing political tension between him and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The governor made the remark on Thursday at the New Year banquet held at the Government House in Port Harcourt, where he sought to play down concerns over the face-off, insisting that the that his administration was not distracted.
Fubara suggested that the noise trailing the disagreement was borne out of misunderstanding rather than substance, stressing that his camp was confident and clear about its political direction.
According to him, those who were openly reacting to the situation were doing so because they lacked a full grasp of the issues at stake.
“A dog only barks when it doesn’t understand,” the governor said.
“If a dog knows you, it does not need to bark. When it starts barking, it is probably seeing something it does not understand. We are not barking because we understand where we are going.”
He assured his supporters that all necessary arrangements had been put in place to ensure the smooth running of his administration and to safeguard his political future.
