Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a socio-political group, City Boy Builds Nigeria (CBN), has endorsed Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru, the lawmaker representing Kwara South Senatorial District, for the Kwara State governorship race.
The endorsement took place during the official unveiling of the Kwara Central Senatorial District chapter of the group in Ilorin on Wednesday, 31st of December, 2025.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Mobiliser of the programme, Comrade Hammed Bolaji Dollar, said the endorsement was based on Senator Ashiru’s track record of service to the people.
He noted that the gathering represented a shared hope for purposeful leadership and a better Kwara State, stressing that the senator’s consistent service record gives the group confidence in his aspirations.
He described Senator Ashiru as a true servant of the people who has delivered dividends of democracy to his constituents.
While presenting the group’s communiqué, Honourable Intellect Abiodun Bashir Erubu, the anchor of City Boys Build Nigeria, stated that the endorsement followed extensive consultations with stakeholders across the four local government areas that make up the Kwara Central Senatorial District.
He added that Senator Ashiru’s political maturity, consistency, legislative competence, loyalty to progressive ideals and bridge-building capacity distinguish him as the right leader to consolidate existing gains, strengthen unity and drive inclusive and sustainable development.
The group also expressed confidence in the senator’s ability to domesticate and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda in Kwara State for the benefit of all citizens.
While commending the current administration under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the group warned that the future of the state must not be negotiated on sectional or parochial interests, but secured through competence, vision, unity of purpose and statewide appeal.
The group observed that although notable progress has been recorded in the last six years, Kwara State now requires leadership capable of delivering deeper inclusiveness, strategic development, and long-term political and economic stability.
Also speaking at the event, Honourable Babatunde Oniwara and Honourable Sulaiman Muniroh from Ilorin South commended the organisers and urged stakeholders to rally around Senator Ashiru in the interest of the state’s development.
