A simmering labour dispute in Ondo State has escalated into public view as workers attached to Tantita Security Services have appealed to the firm’s Chief Executive Officer, Government Ekpemupolo, widely known as Tompolo, to urgently intervene in what they describe as a two-year delay in salary payments.
The aggrieved personnel, operating under the security outfit’s Ondo axis, staged a peaceful demonstration at the palace of the Lisa of Idepe-Okitipupa, High Chief Adekanmi Adegbola, where they brandished placards demanding swift action and corporate accountability.
In a video now circulating widely online, one of the workers, Dagunro Sola, made a direct plea to Tompolo, urging him to step in and ensure that the long-standing arrears are cleared. He stressed that many affected staff were already facing severe hardship.
High Chief Adegbola, who attended to the protesters at his palace, described their concerns as legitimate and assured them that he would engage relevant stakeholders to fast-track a resolution. He called for restraint while internal mechanisms are activated to interrogate the claims.
The latest agitation comes on the heels of earlier complaints from some Ikale youths, who had questioned the leadership style of the state’s Tantita Security coordinator, Idowu Asonja, and demanded his removal over alleged operational irregularities.
When contacted on Thursday, Asonja declined to confirm or deny the allegations, maintaining a guarded stance on the controversy. Tantita Security Services has also not issued a formal response, fuelling further speculation about internal disquiet.
However, a source familiar with the matter indicated that the company intends to collaborate with community leaders to address the grievances, signalling a possible pathway to reconciliation.
