A fire outbreak has destroyed parts of Rogo General Hospital in Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State, the Kano State Fire Service has confirmed.

The incident, which occurred on Thursday, December 11, 2025, was reported at about 2:36pm, prompting the immediate deployment of firefighters to the scene.

According to a statement issued by the Fire Service’s Public Relations Officer, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the distress call was received from a resident, Abdullahi Ahmad Rifan. Firefighters from the Karaye and Rogo stations were swiftly mobilised under the supervision of the service’s director, Alhaji Sani Anas.

On arrival, the responders discovered that a one-storey hospital building, measuring roughly 400 by 400 feet, was already engulfed in flames. Several departments located on the ground floor were affected, including the Physiotherapy Clinic, Medical Emergency Unit office, Dental Unit, Outpatient Department, ACC/Card room, DOT office and the Laboratory.

Preliminary findings suggest that the fire may have been caused by an electrical spark, although officials said further investigations would be carried out to establish the exact cause of the incident.

The Fire Service urged residents to remain vigilant, particularly during the harmattan season when fire outbreaks are more frequent, and advised the public to observe safety measures to safeguard lives and property.
