Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola, popularly known as FRYO, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2026 Osun State Election following the party’s primary held in Osogbo on Tuesday.
According to the poll official who announced the results, Adebayo secured 919 votes out of the 957 valid votes accredited, giving him a decisive victory in the exercise.
The primary, conducted amid tight security, followed days of intense political activity within the party, especially after Governor Ademola Adeleke formally withdrew from seeking re-election under the PDP.
Delegates drawn from across the state participated in the election, which party officials described as “transparent, peaceful, and credible.”
Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola (FRYO) becomes the PDP’s standard-bearer heading into the 2026 governorship race, setting the stage for what is expected to be a fierce contest among major political parties in the state.
Party stakeholders and supporters erupted in celebrations at the venue, while the candidate is expected to address the media and party members later today.
