The Kwara State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has officially inaugurated its new executive committee following a state congress held on Monday at the Golden Suite Hotel, Irewolede Area, Ilorin.
Abdullahi Atolagbe Mohammad, an academic technologist and entertainment practitioner from Share, Ifelodun Local Government, emerged as the State Chairman after an affirmation process that saw party delegates endorse his leadership.
A graduate of Biology (BSc) and Microbiology (HND), Atolagbe’s elevation to the top post was described as a recognition of his hard work and long-standing commitment to the party.
Speaking to journalists after the congress, Atolagbe expressed gratitude for the support he received.
He said, “The congress was structured to allow for affirmations, and while several party members expressed interest, I was humbled when my name was pronounced as the Chairman. This decision came after thorough consultations and testimonies from members about my dedication and sacrifices for the party. I am committed to piloting the affairs of the NNPP in Kwara State with diligence and transparency.”

Other zonal officers, financial officers, welfare secretaries, liaison officers, and ex-officio members were also elected and sworn in.
The event drew national party executives and delegates, including Alhaja Moriyam Yaasin, National Women Leader of NNPP; Dr. Abdulazeez, Kano State Organizing Secretary; Dr. Abdulsalam Sanni, and other party stakeholders. Local government party chairmen from across the three senatorial districts in Kwara were also in attendance.
Atolagbe’s emergence is seen as a strategic move to consolidate the party’s presence in the state ahead of future electoral contests, as he now assumes the responsibility of strengthening party structures, mobilizing members, and enhancing grassroots engagement across Kwara.
