Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to prioritise the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027, urging party members to maintain unity as political activities gain momentum.
Speaking at the APC quarterly stakeholders’ meeting, Governor Aiyedatiwa stressed that internal cohesion is crucial to the party’s success, warning against divisions caused by personal ambitions or conflicting interests.
“We must collectively work to deliver Ondo State for President Tinubu in 2027,” he said, adding that solidarity within the party is essential to achieving the goal. He cautioned that any action undermining party leadership or fellow members could weaken APC’s electoral chances.
The governor explained that the quarterly meeting serves as a platform for engagement, feedback, and collaboration, as well as a review of political and developmental progress in the state.
Highlighting achievements under his administration, Aiyedatiwa said several health facilities had been renovated and ambulances deployed across local government areas to improve emergency response. He also noted that ongoing development projects were deliberately distributed across all local councils to ensure balanced growth.
He further disclosed that the Federal Government had approved the revalidation of Ondo State’s deep seaport licence, correcting earlier errors that misrepresented the state’s identity.
Earlier, the APC state Chairman, Ade Adetimehin, represented by Vice Chairman Atili Agabra, praised the governor for engaging party members directly and for his administration’s youth employment initiatives across various ministries, departments, and agencies.
APC National Vice Chairman (South-West), Isaac Kekemeke, also reaffirmed Governor Aiyedatiwa’s position as the party leader in Ondo State and the principal mobiliser for Tinubu’s second-term bid. Kekemeke highlighted that while other party figures are influential, the governor remains a trusted and loyal campaigner.
“Most criticisms now come from within the party. Opposition parties like the PDP and Labour Party no longer present a significant threat in the state,” Kekemeke said. He urged the governor to continue accommodating diverse interests within the APC and to lead efforts in maintaining unity ahead of upcoming political contests.
The meeting underscored the APC’s focus on strategic planning, party cohesion, and grassroots mobilisation as the state prepares for the 2027 elections.
