Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has firmly refuted claims that he has withdrawn from the 2027 presidential race in favour of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, describing the reports as false, misleading and a deliberate distortion of facts.
Atiku, who flew the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general election, was alleged in some media reports to have stepped aside to back Obi for the presidency, including an understanding that Obi would serve a single term to address issues of regional balance.
However, the former Vice President’s Media Adviser, Mr Paul Ibe, swiftly debunked the narrative, insisting that Atiku remains fully committed to his political ambition and has not entered into any such arrangement.
Reacting on Saturday, December 27, Ibe took to his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, where he shared a screenshot of the controversial report and dismissed it with a terse response: “Fake news: Not on the menu!”
