A founding member of the Federal Polytechnic Offa Alumni Association, Mr. Suleiman Wisdom Onimisi, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of National President of the association in the forthcoming election.
Onimisi, who has built a career across advertising, development work, academia and the private sector, said his decision followed “thoughtful and resourceful deliberation” aimed at raising the standard of the association and strengthening the foundation laid by previous leaders.
He acknowledged the contributions of the pioneer president, Dr. Ayoade Adeyemi Mabayoje (Morgan), and the outgoing leader, Comrade Rahman Ayuba Olaleke, noting that the office of President demands not only administrative experience within the Polytechnic system but also deep knowledge of the association’s evolution.
According to him, the role requires “proven leadership, strong relationship-building, networking capacity, financial management expertise and the ability to forge meaningful connections between town and gown.”
Unveiling his agenda, Onimisi said his mission and core values revolve around growth, development and global linkage among members. If elected, he said his administration would introduce both virtual and physical summits to connect alumni worldwide and provide an avenue for strategic planning, collaboration and project development for the institution.
He also promised to strengthen the association’s structure by ensuring that all chapters hold monthly review meetings to foster open communication, gather feedback and deepen participation among members.
Onimisi pledged to sustain and implement the association’s strategic plan, which outlines key focus areas such as communication and engagement, professional development, networking events, mentorship, volunteerism, infrastructure upgrades, alumni recognition, sports development and fundraising.
Highlighting the achievements of FedPoly Offa graduates across politics, business and academia, he said his administration would write formally to alumni in government and the private sector to seek employment slots, internship opportunities, mentorship programmes and endowment support.
He proposed instituting an Alumni Fellow Award for the overall best student in each school, with recommendations for employment to encourage academic excellence.
Onimisi added that the association would maximise media platforms to promote the institution’s achievements and showcase outstanding alumni across the globe.
“With your cooperation and support, we can take our dear alumni body to the next level in the best interest of our alma mater,” he said.
