A bird at hand is worth more than a million or two in the bush is not always correct because a bat at hand is not worth more than two eagles at the tallest tree in the bush waiting to streak a target. However, in the case of Dr. Alex Otti, a bird at hand is worth more than a million in the buses of Abia State now. Going by his accomplishments within two years in office, he has outperformed all the governors elected from the year 2000 till date. Therefore, every great Abians and Umunneochi people precisely seeking for the betterment of the present and future generation must support Dr. Alex Otti for the second term to accomplish the great vision he has for the people of Abia State.
Suggesting few areas of concentration in the next phase of Governor Alex Otti is important. Hence, these few pieces of writing are geared towards helping the administration focus in the task ahead. Attention should not be paid to distractors and political jobbers; the vision of the new Abia must be accelerated. Ensuring that key position is occupied by reasonable brilliant citizens with trackable records cannot be over emphasized.
Industrialization and Job Creation within the rural and urban areas is a must do in the next phase of the governor’s tenor. The people of Umunneochi and other rural areas want to see industrial citing and job creation to curb the excessive migration of the community youths into other states and countries. While Aba and Umuahia has seen major infrastructural development, more is expected to give the Abia people dignity and hope of a future.
Concentration must be geared towards attracting both foreign and local investor within the rural and urban areas as this will enable the newly graduated students gain meaningful employment and ensures steady of funds within state treasure. Applicably, attention must be paid to food security and agriculture through establishing food preserving centers and seedling reserve in Umunneochi and other local communities within the region of Abia State. Indigens must be encouraged to go into farming, and state government should appoint individuals to head mechanize farming for the state, and within rural and urban areas for food security, supply and possible export.
Digital Economy and Technology Development has come to stay; hence, Dr. Alex Otti’s government should establish technology innovation centers in Umunnechi area and other places to support startups in software engineering, fintech, and e-commerce. The action will enable and encourage more students within the state to go into information technology studies which will aid the state to compete with her counterparts nationwide.
Notably, Aba and Umuahia are the face of Abia, therefore, attention must be paid towards modern waste management. Building good sewage system within the urban areas of Abia State will surely reduce increase in bacterial infections and other forms of diseases. While waste-to-energy and recycling plants will curb unnecessary littering and introduce more money into the state treasury. Moreso, the fact that Umunneochi has just one financial institution calls for serious concern, people of umunneochi are in dear need of more financial institutions to curb the congestion at First Bank Nigeria Limited locate at Isuochi.
Erratic power supply or rather the unavailability of electricity supply in umunneochi is glaring and the people of umunneochi are troubled witnessing such a failure in the 21st century. The next phase of His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti, must take up this project of power supply at Umunneochi as it will speak the citation of private industrialization and increase government revenue within the state and local government area. The Aku Amohia river has its source at the great Ohia Agu forest. Ohia Agu forest is home to numerous spring water sources which includes but not limited to Ochi and Nneochie. Aku Amohia River is the water that run through mountain crevices into the valley formed by hill ranges adjoining Umuelem, Ihie, Achara and Amuda Isuochi. The river then merges with Ubani river at Ngada Umuelem. This massive body of water can be considered as medium to generate electricity that can power the entire locality instead of going through neighboring states. There are other rivers within umunneoch for consideration.
More importantly, attention should be paid to flooding zones. most of the rural area like Ngodo Isuochi and Umunneoch environs are seriously threatened with flash flooding and homes and house destroyed. Governor Alex Otti should use his second term in office to address this subject as it is life threatening at Ngodo and other umunneochi environs.
Further, there are other areas calling for Dr. Alex Otti’s attention, however, it is in the best interest of the state to further investigate this subject. Additionally, this submission does not suggest in any way that Dr. Alex Otti is not performing in some of these areas mentioned, but rather calls for closer, in-depth attention and consideration.
