A wave of disbelief has swept through Tashar Aibo in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State after a young man was reportedly stabbed to death by his new wife just three days after their wedding.
The victim, popularly known in the community as Dan Gaske Mai Masara, was said to be resting at home on Sunday afternoon when the incident unfolded. Neighbours disclosed that the wife allegedly attacked him while he slept, plunging a knife into his neck.
Residents, still grappling with the shock, described the late maize seller as a calm, hardworking man who was well-regarded within the community. His shop, usually a lively stop for locals, became a sombre gathering point on Sunday as people struggled to comprehend the tragedy.
“The news spread so fast, but most of us didn’t believe it until we saw people crying at his shop,” a resident said, noting that the couple had only tied the knot on Thursday, 18 November.
Community members called the incident deeply tragic, praying for the repose of the young husband while urging authorities to unravel the circumstances that led to the fatal attack.
As at press time, security agencies had yet to issue an official statement, though local sources confirmed that investigations are underway to establish the motive and apprehend those involved.
