The management of Harvard Polytechnic, Ilorin, on Monday, November 24, 2025 paid a courtesy visit to the Kwara State Police Command, where they held strategic discussions with the Commissioner of Police, CP Ojo Adekimi, on strengthening security around the institution and its host community.
The delegation, led by the Rector, Dr. Obasanjo Ajibade, included the Registrar, Mr. Imole Jeary Joe; the Bursar, Mrs. Ajibade Taye Esther; and the Chief Security Officer, Mr. Olaniyi Christopher Gboyega.
During the meeting, the team congratulated the Commissioner on his recent achievements, particularly the successful rescue of abducted victims in the state.
They commended his proactive approach to security management, describing it as reassuring for educational institutions and residents.
Speaking on behalf of the Polytechnic, Dr. Ajibade said the visit was necessitated by the institution’s commitment to safeguarding the lives of its students and staff, especially in its host community, Agbabiaka area of Ilorin.
In his response, CP Adekimi assured the delegation that Ilorin metropolis, including Agbabiaka, remains safe and is not considered a vulnerable area.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace across the state.
The CP asked management to write and formalise her plans to integrate police officers into the school’s internal security structure to ensure swift response to emerging threats.
The Polytechnic’s management expressed gratitude for the Commissioner’s warm reception and assurances, describing the engagement as “fruitful and encouraging.”
The School Management subsequently extended a formal invitation to CP Adekimi to serve as Guest Lecturer at the institution’s forthcoming Matriculation Ceremony, scheduled for February 2026.
